One Way System
Well the argument still rumbles on… and the pavement around the John Gray Centre hasn’t helped! The crux of the Community Groups arguments are who wanted it anyway? why was it necessary and why was the public not consulted properly in the first place? Also, plans for street layout changes to the main streets have still not been released to the community groups or the public. Are we putting the cart before the horse? Lets wait and see what happens over the next few weeks when the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order for the one way system comes to an end!
Haddington Town Centre Health Check
The recent survey carried out on independent businesses in central Haddington by the Economic Development Unit paints a grim future for Haddington traders. Businesses report a drop in profits on last year and the majority admit to experiencing some financial difficulties. In today’s “Courier”, businesses did hope that by working with ELC and outside agencies ways could be found to counteract what is currently happening on our High Streets, a similar story to what is happening in the rest of Britain at the moment. We hope that ideas can be followed up on for the benefit of our town, Haddington. At least we’re trying!
Haddington “Vision” Gets Nearer
Urban Animation have been appointed as consultants to carry out the “Vision” report for Haddington. As previously reported, by consulting with groups and individuals in the town, from children to pensioners, through group and public work shops, a “Vision For Haddington” will be announced at a public meeting that will let us know what the hopes and aspirations are from all of us, for the future for our town. This has just begun and should be finalised in April or May of this year. Watch this space for more details.
